We ordered the Ami Paris Heart-Print Zipper Hoodie Collection (SKU 7705087738) in three size runs — S, M and L — across three colour codes: black 401#, light blue 403# and pink 405#. The listing price at the time of order was $34.03 against a $38.81 reference, routed through a shopping agent. Each parcel was photographed before opening and again after consolidation, every garment was measured flat on the bench before anyone wore it, and the size M sample then went into a fourteen-day wear rotation.
What arrived, and what the bench said
The three hoodies arrived in one consolidated parcel, each in its own poly bag with no odour on opening worth reporting. Stitching on all three was even along the shoulder, armhole and side seams, with no loose thread tails on the embroidery reverse. The zip track on every sample ran smoothly and the slider held its position at chest height while walking.
Flat measurements were taken one inch below the armhole for chest, from the high-point shoulder to the hem for back length, and with the ribbed hem fully relaxed.
| Size | Chest (flat) | Back length | Ribbed hem (relaxed) | Sleeve, shoulder to cuff | Bench weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 20.1 in | 24.6 in | 18.9 in | 23.6 in | 379 g |
| M | 21.1 in | 25.4 in | 19.7 in | 24.3 in | 386 g |
| L | 21.6 in | 25.9 in | 20.2 in | 24.6 in | 394 g |
Published AMI size data for the Ami de Coeur hoodie lists roughly 21 in chest and about 25.5 in back length at M, and our M sample sat within a tenth or two of both. The catalog's 350–400 g field is not labelled as fabric weight per square metre or as a finished-garment weight; our 386 g size M sample is consistent with mid-weight cotton loopback either way, but the two readings mean different things, so treat the spec as a range rather than a promise.
Fourteen days of wear: where the loopback marked up
The M sample took eleven wears and one 30 °C wash, inside out, air dried. What we logged:
- Pilling: light fibre disturbance appeared at the bottom pocket corners, where the zip pull rests, and around the drawstring anchor points. Cuffs and hem ribbing stayed clean.
- Rib recovery: the ribbed cuffs and hem returned to their pre-wear width after a few hours off the body; we did not measure permanent slack.
- Heart embroidery: the single-tone motif, roughly 0.8 in wide on our sample, was unchanged after wash, with no distortion of the satin stitching.
- Odd finding: the left cuff on the L sample read about 0.3 in wider than the right after a day of wear, which is within tolerance and not something an agent's QC photo set could establish.
Nothing failed. What marked up was cosmetic and predictable for a 350–400 g loopback, and it arrived at the corners where a zip-front hoodie always rubs first.
What QC photos settle, and what they cannot
Agent photo sets are useful for gross defects: the wrong colour code, a stain, a missing cord end, a mismatched zip. They are weak on the details that matter most for this brand. Authentication guidance for AMI Paris heart-logo pieces focuses on the heart's font weight and placement, neck-tag stitching spacing and alignment, and wash-tag font consistency — none of which resolve reliably in warehouse photography. Our samples read correctly under a loupe, but that is an in-hand check, not a photo check.
45 colour codes, six reference families
The listing runs 45 colour codes grouped into six reference families (401, 403, 404, 405, 406 and 407). Thumbnails can look near-identical across families — there are greys in 401, 403 and 405 — and a handful of codes carry two-tone names such as black-red. Before ordering, ask the agent to confirm the exact code printed on the tag against the variant you selected; the code story, not the thumbnail, is what you are buying.
Sizing: the tape measure against the advice
Chinese AMI buying guides advise sizing down because armholes are cut wide while body length is not shortened for smaller frames. Our M sample matched the published chart but did gape at the armhole when we raised both arms; the hem sat just below the belt line in a relaxed drape. If you want a closer fit, take the smaller size — but check the back length first, because sizing down costs you roughly three quarters of an inch of body length.
How we check a parcel before wearing it
- Photograph the parcel sealed, then open and check the colour code on the tag against your order.
- Measure chest, back length and hem flat and compare with your own worn hoodie, not the model photos.
- Inspect the heart motif with a loupe: font weight, stitch density, placement.
- Check cord ends, slider travel and the whole length of the zip track.
- Smell the garment on arrival and log any chemical odour before washing.
Care, warmth and the cold-wash rule
This is an unlined, unbrushed cotton layer with a hooded cardigan cut — pleasant from about 10 °C upward over a tee, and best under a shell below that. Heat is the enemy: one 30 °C wash inside out moved the back length of our sample by under 0.2 in, and we would not tumble dry it. Wash cold, air dry, and expect the pocket-corner pilling to need a fabric shaver every few weeks.
Sourcing caveats worth knowing
There is no independent buyer evidence for this specific listing, so our assessment rests on the three samples we handled. Brand-level reports describe AMI buyers as generally happy with fit, feel and look, and note quality materials with neat seams — those reports cover the brand, not this seller. Separately, a look-alike third-party site trading under the amiparis-store name carries a 2 out of 5 TrustScore across 16 reviews, which is a reminder to confirm you are ordering from an authorized seller rather than a similar-sounding reseller. The reference price is not an authenticity signal; orders route through agents.
What would change our assessment
A buyer-reported defect pattern for the same seller, or a failed in-hand authentication check on the neck tag or heart font, would move this review. So would a second batch showing meaningful weight drift outside the listed range. Until then, the samples we measured performed as described, with the pocket-corner pilling as the only wear note we recorded.
