These Celine all-over print shorts in green cost us $5.22 per pair, against a listed original of $5.96, from a source listing carrying SKU 7717465313. Because a low-rise drawstring short lives or dies on where the waistband lands rather than how the print looks in a thumbnail, we bought three size runs — M, L and 2XL — and put the same style on three testers with deliberately different builds. Everything below is from the pairs that reached our Rotterdam desk.
What arrived, and what the parcel smelled like
The parcel was photographed before opening and again after consolidation, as with every garment we score. Inside were three flat-folded polyester shorts, one per size, in the green colourway with the light monogram-style motif running edge to edge and a solid green waistband with a matching drawstring. Weight for a size L was 148 g on the hanging scale.
On arrival the fabric had a mild new-garment odour — the usual sizing-agent smell, not chemical or damp. It cleared after twelve hours on a hanger and was gone after the first machine wash at 30 °C. The cord tips on all three pairs were heat-sealed rather than metal-tipped, with no fraying. Hem stitching was a single overlocked row on every pair, with no loose thread ends and no skipped sections. Across the three pairs the same measurement points matched within 0.5 cm of each other, which is tight for a $5.22 garment.
The three-tester fit panel
Priya measured each pair flat on the mat across the chest-equivalent waist point, then repeated the waist reading with the drawstring pulled to its comfortable limit. The rise is measured from the top of the waistband down the front to the crotch seam.
| Size | Waist relaxed (flat) | Waist drawn in (flat) | Front rise | Inseam | Leg opening (flat) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| M | 34 cm | 44 cm | 23.5 cm | 14 cm | 31 cm |
| L | 37 cm | 47 cm | 24 cm | 15 cm | 33 cm |
| 2XL | 42 cm | 53 cm | 26 cm | 16 cm | 36 cm |
Doubled, that is roughly 68–88 cm of usable waist on the M and 84–106 cm on the 2XL. The listing never published flat waist figures, so these numbers could not be checked against a chart — only against each other and against the stated 1–2 cm manufacturing tolerance, which our three pairs respected. Read the table as a starting point and still ask the seller for the measurements attached to the size you intend to buy.
The three testers wore the pairs through a working week of desk days, two supermarket runs and one warm evening on the terrace:
- Tester A, 172 cm and 66 kg, took the M — loose through the seat, waistband sitting below the hip bone, no gaping when seated.
- Tester B, 180 cm and 82 kg, took the L — the straight leg stayed clear of the thigh and the rise landed where a low-rise short should, just under the navel.
- Tester C, 178 cm and 95 kg, took the 2XL — comfortable, but the loose cargo-style cut reads oversized rather than tailored, and the leg opening hangs wide.
How the drawstring waist behaves over a day
The closure is the whole story of this short: no belt, no belt loops, no structured band. Worn from morning to evening, the knot held on all three pairs and needed re-tying once on the heaviest tester after roughly four hours of walking. The gathered tunnel does most of the adjustment, and the listing's "slight stretch" claim measured out at around a quarter more waist when drawn in, part elastane and part gathering. Anyone who dislikes a waistband that shifts by a centimetre or two over a day should treat this as a lounge-and-weekend short rather than a fixed-fit one.
The pattern field still does not match the title
Our green pairs arrived printed exactly as the title says. The listing's own specification does not agree with that, and this is the one detail we would not sign off on:
The listing pattern field says solid color while the title says all-over print — the two descriptions do not match.
Because the same short shape is offered in apricot and black with the same all-over treatment, the risk is a colourway or a batch that ships plain. Ask the seller for a photo of the exact variant before paying, and treat the pattern field as unresolved rather than as evidence that you will receive a printed pair.
What we could not verify
The listing claims breathability, wrinkle resistance, stain resistance and colourfastness. We can speak to the first machine wash, where the green did not bleed and the print stayed put, and to a short daytime wear pattern that produced no visible staining. We cannot speak to long-term colourfastness, and we found no independent buyer accounts for this listing to weigh against our own. Durability beyond a handful of wears stays unverified, and the 1–2 cm tolerance is a stated allowance rather than a guarantee.
Before ordering, confirm two things: the pattern you will actually receive, and the flat waist and hip measurements on your size. Get both in writing and this is a straightforward summer buy at a very low price.
